Winter is Tough on Turkeys
The northern range of the wild turkey is having a brutal winter so far. We have above average snowfall over three feet deep in the woods and extended periods of extreme cold.
It’s tough for turkeys to get around and find food. If they are caught out in deep, fluffy snow by a predator they can’t spring into the air to escape. I don’t know how they survive winter bare headed without freezing their beaks off in the north. This is one tough bird.
